Operation Admittances
If your pet is booked in for a general anaesthetic the procedure is as follows;
We ask that you arrive at the surgery from 8.15am (we admit upto 8.45am), you will need to see the veterinary surgeon or veterinary nurse (routine procedures), who will examine your pet and explain the consent form to you. You will sign the consent form and your pet will be admitted for it's procedure. It is important that you fully understand what the procedure entails and if you have any questions, either clinical or relating to the costs involved, please discuss it with the member of staff admitting your pet.
When booking the procedure, the feeding instructions will be explained to you, but as a rule we ask that a pet has it's usual tea time meal, and that all food is removed at midnight. Fresh water should be available at all times for your pet. If it is a cat you need to ensure that the cat remains indoors so that you can confirm that it has not eaten anything after midnight.
Rabbits MUST NOT be starved and must have food and water available upto admittance.
Cat's should be in a suitable secure basket.
Dog's should be brought in on a lead, and we recommend that you take your pet for a short walk so that they can do their toilet and be more comfortable during their stay with us.
If your dog is aggressive and you do not have a suitable muzzle, please inform a member of the reception team so that they can sort out a muzzle, for you to put on your pet.
Please make sure that we have a contact number that you will be available on during your pet's stay. It is important that we can contact you if necessary.
