Cushings disease, or hyperadrenocorticism, is a common disease in dogs but rare in cats. It is caused by an overactive adrenal gland, which results in high levels of steroids in the bloodstream. It can also occur due to long term use of some drugs.

Cushings disease cannot be cured, but can be well controlled using long term drugs. It is most commonly seen in middle-aged or old animals.
