Big Changes with Pet Passport Scheme

The pet passport scheme is changing from 1st January 2012.  Dogs and cats will no longer need to be blood tested or wait 6 months before travelling between the UK and the EU, USA or Australia (this also applies to certain other countries - the full list can be viewed at DEFRA).

Pets will still need to be microchipped and vaccinated for Rabies.  They can travel 3 weeks after the vaccine.  Before re-entering the UK they will need to be treated for tapeworms.

These rules do not apply to pets travelling to or from a country not listed above - more information for these pets is available from DEFRA's website or from the official site of the country you are travelling to.

Remember to check exactly what you need to do to travel to the country you are going to, we can not be held responsible for problems with your travel arrangements.
