What is KalmAid?

KalmAid is an effective, fast acting product which promotes relaxation and reduces nervous irritability.  It can be used in situations such as separation from owner or new environment; fear of travel or unwanted unruly behaviour.  It is particularly useful during events likely to cause noise related anxiety such as thunder and lightning storms or fireworks.

Some examples of situations when KalmAid can be used short term;

  • Over excitement in new situations - visitors, new pet
  • Separation anxiety - visiting kennels
  • At weaning - when puppies are separated from their mothers
  • Environmental Problems - thunder storms, fireworks, workmen
  • Grooming Appointments
  • Travelling
  • Visiting the vets

KalmAid can be used longterm for certain behaviour issues for example dominance, but we would recommend that this is done in conjunction with veterinary advice and appropriate training/behaviour therapy.

KalAid contains L-Tryptophan and L-Theanine.

L-Trytophan is a precursor for serotonin and increases serotonin levels.  Serotonin is the bodies own calming, well being and contributor to happiness 'chemicals'.

L-Theanine increases one of the natural messenger in the brain that promotes relaxation and reduces anxiety.  It also stimulates the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter responsible for confidence and a sense of well-being.

KalmAid is available in tablets or gel.  The gel is ideal for cats as this can be rubbed on the cat's paw/coat and groomed off by the cat making it a little easier for you!
